‘Catch me if you can’ as people come to rescue injured woman in door decoration incident

A woman who was knocked to the ground by a door decoration has been rescued from her injuries.

The woman, who was outside a home in the early hours of this morning, said she was knocked down by the door decoration.

The decorations were placed on the door of the house on the corner of Beccles Avenue and the St Vincent Street, in Basingstoke.

It is believed the woman had been outside to get a cup of tea.

It was only when she got back inside that she saw the man standing outside.

She told BBC North East: “I thought he was going to walk over and kick me, but he was just standing there, I was just knocked to my knees.”

“I just saw his eyes and thought he’s just a normal person, so I just stood there and watched him.”

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact police on 101.
